a Bridge Too Far

The completion of the temporary bamboo ' 8th bridge' across the Tyne was marked with the lighting of hundreds of fire lanterns this evening. The event was accompanied by sounds recorded during its' construction and with music from bamboo instruments played on a barge in the river. Sadly the overall effect was, more than somewhat, underwhelming, and the old bridges were still the stars of the show.
